Description
Dene House is a building that dates from the 17th century, 18th century, early 19th century, and includes modern elements. It has a symmetrical front (east) with two storeys and three windows. The rear section retains some timber-framing and features a dated plaque from 1677, along with a fireplace bressumer marked RH 1659. The front part and the entire exterior are primarily from the 18th century, showcasing hipped tile roofing, brick dentil eaves, and walls made of red brick in Flemish bond, with a header band at the front indicating some changes to the window layout. The building has a plinth and sash windows set in reveals, with folding interior shutters and a central circular light. A modern porch features partial brick cheeks, thin pilasters, square columns, a flat roof, and half-glazed double doors, all above a flight of steps. Inside, there are some 18th-century features, and a modern single-storey room extension has been added to the north end.
