Description

Cotterpins is a 17th-century building with early 19th-century alterations, located on Back Lane in Herriard. It is a two-storeyed timber-frame building with a brick front facing north, originally featuring four windows. The roof is thatched, and its eastern side is brought to a low eaves. Exposed timber framing, brick-nogged, is visible at the rear. The front elevation is built of red brick in a Flemish Garden Wall bond, with cambered arches above the ground-floor openings. The windows are old metal casements. A boarded door is set within a solid frame; the doorway of the former paired building has been filled with brickwork.
