Description
Fourways and Fourways Cottage is an 18th-century building located on Church Street in St Mary Bourne. The symmetrical front, facing north, features two storeys and five windows, with a one-window extension on the east side that is of slightly later date. It has a hipped tile roof, brick dentil eaves, and a catslide roof at the rear, along with a large tapered chimney stack at the north-east end. The walls, which are now painted, are constructed of brick with squared-knapped flint panels, brick rubbed flat arches, a first-floor band, and a plinth. The east side is built in English bond with one flint panel above the first-floor band. The windows include casements and one sash, while four former windows have been plastered over with painted frames. The solid door frame features a coupled fanlight and a two-panelled door. The west elevation is similar, with a symmetrical arrangement of three windows and a similar door frame within a later porch; the return side is plain with larger flint panels. The building was formerly an inn.
