Description

No 1 Crown Lane is part of an L-shaped block that includes Nos 10, 12, and 14 The Street. The building dates from the 17th century and 18th century, with later alterations. It has two storeys and features irregular window arrangements. The front (south) has an old tile roof, while the ridge and rear are thatched. The upper part of the building has exposed timber framing with brickwork infill, and the ground-floor walls are constructed with some English and header bond using old Basing bricks. There is a plinth with a moulded stone offset. The windows are modern casements, and the entrance has a plain boarded door set in a solid frame.
