Description
South Lodge is an early 19th-century, single-storey dwelling characterized by its symmetrical form and very plain classical style. It features one window on either side of a central entrance. The building has a low-pitched slate roof with wide, plain eaves above a fascia. The gables at the ends and the entrance are designed in a pediment form, with the fascia returning at eaves level. The walls are made of painted brickwork with a plinth. The 2-light casements have slightly projected frames topped with pediments. The central section of the building projects slightly forward and is flanked by two plain columns that have simple cap and base mouldings. The thin doorframe also has a pediment top. There is a modern extension at the rear. Notably, there is an identical North Lodge located in Stratfield Saye.
