Description
Dummer Down Farmhouse is a 18th and 19th-century building that stands two storeys high with an attic. The symmetrical southeast front features three windows and is topped by a hipped tile roof, which includes a small central hipped dormer with casement windows. The walls are made of red brick laid in English bond, with a first-floor band and rubbed flat arches over the ground-floor windows, stone cills, and a plinth. The early 19th-century sash windows are set in reveals. The entrance has a later classical doorcase, which is flanked by narrow windows and topped with a pediment. This doorcase also features console brackets, a frieze with vertical grooves, and an architrave. The side elevations each have two windows and are complemented by wide late 19th-century dormers that are linked to the chimney stacks. At the rear, there are modern lower additions that match the style of the original building. Notably, there is an old lead cistern dated 1704.
