Description
Upper Farmhouse is a house that dates from the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries, showcasing a mix of architectural styles and periods. It is a long structure with a taller south end, featuring an old tile roof. The south gable is adorned with brick dentils, and the ridge slopes down towards the north, culminating in a large hip. At the rear, there is a half-hipped narrow section with catslides on each side. The walls are made of red brick, with the older parts constructed in English bond, which includes a first-floor drip mould, some blocked windows, and a high plinth. The later sections are in Flemish bond, featuring a first-floor band, some rubbed flat arches, and indications of altered openings.
Between the older and later sections, there is a 19th-century gable at the front, which includes a gabled brick porch on its north side. The windows consist of casements, with some tall Victorian lights in the older part of the house. There are two plain doorways, one with a panelled door and the other with a boarded door, while the door within the porch is a six-panel design with two glazed sections at the top. The house also has two separate massive chimney stacks.
