Description

Dating from the 17th and 18th centuries, with more recent alterations, Goddards Farm Cottage is a timber-framed house originally comprising 2½ bays, with a chimney breast in the central half-bay. The building is two storeys high and has an irregular arrangement of modern windows. The roof is tiled, with a catslide section at the rear and two dormers—one large and one small—with gables. A shafted stack is positioned in the middle of the building, and a tapered stack from the 18th century is attached to the west gable. Parts of the timber frame are visible on the front (south-east) elevation in the upper wall, while the entire frame is exposed on the east gable, featuring herring bone brick infill. The lower front wall is built of red brick in English bond, but the upper wall has been altered and rebuilt more recently. The cottage has modern casement windows and two plain doors.
