Description

This is a milepost located at Horse Bridge on the north side of the A271. It is made of wood and features an attached cast iron front. The milepost stands 100 cm high, 30 cm wide, and 15 cm deep. At the top, there is a gabled cast iron plate that depicts the buckle of the Pelham family. Below this is the number 54, indicating the distance in miles from the milepost to St Mary-le-Bow Church in London. Following this is a stylised bow and five stylised bells. The background of the plate is painted white, while all relief elements are painted black.
