Description
The ruins of the old house known as Halland House are located in the grounds of Halland Park House in Laughton. The remains date back to 1595 and are now part of the garden wall. The structure is made of red brick with stone quoins and brick buttresses. Before the death of the Duke of Newcastle in 1768, a mansion named Halland House stood on this site, which was later dismantled by Lord Pelham. The remains now visible are part of a complete courtyard that was built by Sir Thomas Pelham.
