Description
Pickhill is a house, formerly a farmhouse, dating from the late 16th century or early 17th century. It features a two-bay lobby entrance design with a 19th-century range added to the front. The front range is constructed of brown brick in Flemish bond, accented with red brick dressings. It has a renewed tiled roof with two hips and two brick chimney stacks. The building is two storeys high and has three windows, which are sashes with verticals only. On the ground floor, there are two three-light canted bays without glazing bars and horns, along with a central doorcase that holds an eight-panelled door, with the top two panels being glazed.
The rear range is timber framed, with some exposed box framing on the ground floor's left-hand side, while the rest of the ground floor is finished in brick and tile hung above. The roof has also been renewed with tiles. Throughout the building, there are 20th-century sash windows. One ground floor room features an open fireplace with some old brickwork, a three-inch chamfered beam with run-out stops, and similar floor joists. The other ground floor room also has an open fireplace, which includes a two-inch chamfered axial beam with bar stops and similar stops on the floor joists. The first floor showcases exposed box framing and jowled posts, along with a brick fireplace that has a wooden bressummer and a chamfered spine beam. The roof includes a multiflued brick chimney and a side purlin roof with some rough-hewn rafters, but it lacks a ridgepiece.
