Description
The small barn located to the rear of Pottens Mill Farmhouse is a 17th-century structure that has been altered in the 18th and 20th centuries. Originally a cart shed with a hayloft above, it was temporarily used as a house at the time of the survey. The exterior is weatherboarded, with some sections filled with breeze blocks. It features a half-hipped tiled roof and consists of three bays, showcasing a staggered purlin roof and an upper cruck, which is quite unusual for Sussex. The barn has 18th-century flooring and an attic entrance leading to the hayloft, along with some later window openings.
