Description

This is an 18th-century former barn, located to the south-east of Manor Farmhouse, which was later converted into a house in the late 20th century. The barn is timber-framed and weatherboarded, with a brick, flint, and stone plinth and a tile roof, half-hipped at both ends. It originally comprised seven bays, although one truss was removed, leaving six bays.

The south elevation features a central 20th-century porch and seven roof lights in the lower part of the roof. Modern, narrow casement windows have been inserted into each elevation, some paired and double-height, and some horizontal. A 20th-century cartshed attached to the south-east corner is not of significance.

Inside, the roof retains high collars and double tenoned purlins, with several bays on the south side reinforced with later 20th-century purlins. Straight wind braces are present. The wall frame features studs, a high sole plate, a mid-rail, and slightly curved braces from wall posts to tie beams. Later 20th-century additions include partitions, a staircase, and a fireplace.

The barn forms part of a group with the Grade II* Manor Farmhouse and other former agricultural buildings and retains much of its original timber frame despite its conversion to residential use.
