Description
Poughley Cottage is a cottage from the 18th century, featuring a timber frame with sections of painted brick and painted render infill. It has a hipped and half-hipped thatched roof and is designed in an L-shape with three framed bays on one side and a pent roof at the rear. The cottage is one and a half storeys tall and has a central ridge chimney topped with a corniced head and clay pots. The windows include 18th and 20th century casements. Notable architectural details include a projecting plinth, open eaves, and a thin-sectioned timber frame that is visible on all sides, complemented by long diagonal braces. The entrance is located on the south-west front and features two bays with three-light 18th century leaded windows that break the eaves at the upper level. At ground level, there are two 2-light windows and a thatched, gabled porch leading to a glazed entrance door.
