Description

Pevensey Bridge is a bridge that was widened on the north side by the East Sussex County Council in 1933. Some of the old stonework, dating from 1675, was reused to face the two cutwaters and the flanking portions, with the eastern flank bearing that date. The south side of the bridge dates from 1816 and is constructed of red brick with grey headers in alternate courses. It features one wide and two narrow round-headed arches, with the date 1816 inscribed on the stone keystone of the wide arch, along with ashlar side portions similar to those on the north side.
