Description
Orchard Cottage is a house that was likely built in the early to mid 18th century and has been extended by one bay and refenestrated in the 20th century. The structure is timber-framed, with the ground floor clad in red brick laid in stretcher bond, while the first floor is weatherboarded, although part of the side elevation is tiled. The extension and outshut are also weatherboarded. The left two bays have thatched roofing, while the right two bays are tiled, featuring an external stack on the left and a rear stack on the right. The house has two storeys and four windows, which are 20th-century casements. There is a gabled weather porch with a plank door. Inside, the dining room has an open brick fireplace, and there are four plank doors and a winder staircase. The first floor retains 18th-century floorboards and some slightly curved braces that may be reused.
