Description

Ye Olde Chequers Inn is a timber-framed building dating from the 16th to 17th century that has undergone significant alterations. The front of the building facing the street features roughcast (whitewashed) on the ground floor and painted brick above. The southeast side is finished with red brick on the ground floor and tiles above. The northwest side is partly plastered, revealing some visible timbering. The cornice on the northwest side is rounded. The building is two storeys high and has five windows, which are 18th century sash windows with intact glazing bars. There is a doorway with a flat hood supported on brackets.
