Description
Maplesden is a 17th-century timber-framed building located on Bardown Road in Stonegate. The original south front is weatherboarded and features casement windows, while the south wing has a half-hipped gable. The north front, which has been refaced or added in the 18th century, consists of two storeys and an attic with five windows and four gabled dormers. The exterior is constructed of red brick with alternating grey headers and includes a stuccoed stringcourse and eaves cornice. The hipped tiled roof retains its glazing bars. The entrance features a doorway with fluted Doric pilasters, narrow sidelights flanked by similar pilasters, a curved pediment, and a door with six fielded panels, all set within a shallow modern porch. There is also a modern matching wing with four windows that projects to the north-east.
