Description
A farmhouse, likely dating from the 17th century, was later subdivided into a terrace of four dwellings and altered in the late 19th century. Further extensions occurred at the rear in the mid-to-late 20th century. The exterior is rough cast over flint rubble, with cement quoins and stepped surrounds to the windows. The roof is tiled, with overhanging eaves and rendered stacks located at the right gable end of No. 60, between the second and third bays of No. 62, and rising from the rear roof of No. 64.
The building is arranged as a terrace of four cottages, with a cellar beneath No. 66. It has two storeys plus an attic, and features four gabled dormers with bargeboards and scalloped tiles in the gable ends. Most windows are 2-light, centrally pivoted, with five windows on the first floor. A late 20th-century casement window replaces one on the first floor of No. 62. The ground floor entrances are plank doors with small lights, sheltered by tiled porch-hoods supported by shaped brackets; the entrances to Nos. 60 and 62 are positioned side by side. A cellar window is visible on No. 66. The rear roof slopes down in a catslide fashion, with later dormer additions and extensions.
The interior of No. 64 contains a sawn-off arch-braced collar truss rising from the front wall. The building was shown on the 1872 Ordnance Survey map as a single dwelling, but by 1899 it was recorded as a terrace of four cottages.
