Description
Marchfield House is a late 18th-century house with 19th-century extensions, situated within landscaped grounds including a small lake. The house is constructed of brick with a hipped slate roof. It has an irregular plan, with extensions to the north. The two-storey structure features a first-floor string course and a panelled parapet with stone coping on the south and west sides. A chimney is located on the right side. Sash windows are fitted with glazing bars.
The south front has five bays, with the second and third bays slightly projecting. A four-panelled arched door, topped with an arched fanlight, is positioned in the second bay from the left, with an arched window above. The west front has four bays, with angular bays extending the full height in the first and third bays from the left.
Inside, a late 18th-century staircase is present, characterized by stick balusters and a wreathed handrail.
