Description

This barn, located approximately 60 metres north-west of Banisters, dates from the early 18th century. It features a timber frame with a brick plinth and weatherboard cladding, topped by an old tile half-hipped roof, with some sections covered in corrugated iron. The barn has a rectangular plan consisting of five framed bays, with later aisles added on the east side. A midstrey is present in the centre bay on the east side. The roof is constructed with double trenched purlins, arch-braced collars, curved kneebraces, and straight windbraces over the midstrey. The posts in the middle bay have jowls, and each truss displays carpenters' marks in the correct sequence. This barn was originally part of Banisters Farm.
