Description
The Red House is a house built in the late 18th century, with a 19th-century addition. It has two storeys and is constructed of brick, featuring a cornice string, a parapet with brick coping, and a hipped old tile roof. The original part of the building is located to the west. The south front has three bays of sash windows set in reveals with glazing bars, while the ground floor windows were added in the late 19th century. There is a six-panelled door in an arched panelled reveal, topped by a radiating wreathed wrought-iron and cast lead fanlight, with a plain arched surround. The west front also has three bays of sash windows and includes a one-storey angular bay to the left on the ground floor with 19th-century windows. The 19th-century addition to the east is similar in character to the main part of the house. The south front features a wide angular bay that extends the full height of the building, along with two bays of sash windows to the right.
