Description
Queen Victoria's Chapel is a chapel built for Queen Victoria in the mid-19th century. The chancel was rebuilt in 1863 by architect Teulon, and the nave was rebuilt in 1866, likely by Salvin. The chapel is constructed of stock brick in Flemish bond and Bath stone, featuring a steeply pitched tile roof with crested ridge tiles and coped gables.
The layout includes a nave, south aisle, chancel, south chapel, and south porch. The exterior is marked by a gabled bellcote on the west gable and lancet windows with hoodmoulds. There is a plinth and a moulded string at sill level.
Inside, the chapel has a four-bay nave with a crown-post and collar purlin roof. The arcade leading to the south aisle features columns with leaf and foliage capitals and moulded, pointed arches. The royal box is located in the south chancel.
