Description
The stable building to Cumberland College, located in Old Windsor, dates back to the 18th century and has been restored in the early 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond and features a hipped tile roof. The building has a long rectangular plan and is single storey with an attic, adjoining Cumberland Lodge on the left end.
On the exterior, there is a cornice band and a parapet, along with a centrally placed bellcote that includes a vane, a clock at its base, and scrolled angle brackets. The roof is adorned with 12 gabled dormers that contain casement windows with glazing bars. The ground floor windows are designed with mullions and transoms, also featuring glazing bars, and are set under stepped, gauged brick arches. The north-east front is symmetrical with 12 bays, and there are double doors in the third bays from the centre on either side. A prominent central feature under a stone cornice with a low stone pediment includes a round-arched carriage entrance, which is framed by a stone architrave and springing band. The interior has not been inspected.
