Description

Nos. 3 to 8, Gloucester Place comprise three pairs of small cottage or villas dating from approximately the 1830s and 1840s. They are built of stock brick, with low-pitched slate roofs. Each property features a single window to the front, with recessed sash windows and flat-gauged arches above. A symmetrical arrangement of three windows is present on the long sides, centred around a doorway. The doors are of three fielded panels, topped with radial glazed semi-circular fanlights. No. 5 was altered in the late 19th century with the addition of a bay extension, featuring scallop tile hanging on the first floor and an elaborate fretwork surround and blind box to the first-floor window. Nos. 3 to 16 form a group.
