Description
The former bakehouse at Fisher's Farm is likely from the 16th or 17th century, with some later alterations. It features a mix of very thin red brick and thicker brick, arranged in English and irregular bonds, topped by a hipped plain tile roof. The building has an L-shape, with an open-fronted range consisting of 5 by 2 bays at the front and a 2-bay wing for the bakehouse at the rear left. The windows are 20th-century small-pane casements.
On the south elevation, timber posts resting on padstones support the wall plate. Inside, there is a board door in a wood frame leading to the bakehouse on the left, along with a well and a donkey-wheel on the right. The flooring is brick paved, with the section in front of the door made of thin red brick, and flint paving on the right that includes a circular donkey path. The interior of the bakehouse has a stone and brick paved floor, a large fireplace in the front right corner with bread ovens and a set-pot, and a collared roof truss with inward-raking braces, along with old rafters.
