Description
Donnington Castle House is a 17th century building with later additions. The house features carved brick from 1648 on the south front, constructed from red brick with a stone door surround and an old tile roof. It has two end stacks, with diamond shafts that have rectangular bases and oversailing tops; there are two stacks to the left and three to the right. The house is two storeys tall with an attic and consists of seven bays, showcasing glazing bar sashes with segmental heads on both the ground and first floors. A stone-coped parapet and gabled dormers with ball finials are located over the second and sixth bays. The building has a plinth with a stone top and plat bands between the floors. The central doorway is adorned with an eared architrave and a bracketed triangular pediment. Inside, the left-hand front room on the ground floor features a stone fireplace with a depressed arch and carved spandrels.
