Description
Hop Castle is a hunting lodge from the 18th century, now serving as a house. It is constructed of flint and bones with brick dressings, topped with an old tile hipped roof and a parapet featuring four corner piers and urns. The building has a square plan, is one storey high with a basement, and includes an octagonal room with an ogee roof that projects from the three-bay south front as a central canted bay. The south front has a central 20th-century window with a stone plaque above it, flanked by segmental headed glazing bar sashes with keystones. The north front features an arched doorway set in a central recessed bay. Inside, the walls and ceilings of the staircase hall and the vaulted octagonal room to the south are covered in flint, decorated with shell patterns and pictures.
