Description
No. 5 High Street is a house that has been converted into a house and shop. It dates from the mid-18th century and was altered in the early 19th century. The building features a tiled roof with an end chimney on the left and a central chimney. The flank wall is constructed of flint with brick bands, while the front wall is rough cast and includes an eaves cornice and a moulded band at the second floor, which was the former eaves level.
The building has three storeys. The second floor has three small glazing bar sashes. The first floor displays two tripartite glazing bar sashes alternating with narrow blank recesses to the left, and five glazing bar sashes to the right. On the ground floor, there is a plain shop window to the left and a six-panel door with a flat hood supported by a cut bracket. Additionally, there are two late 19th-century shop fronts featuring deep fascias and moulded cornices.
