Description

The stable block, located approximately 10 metres north of Sandleford Priory, was built between 1780 and 1781 and is now part of a school. Designed by James Wyatt, it features a rendered exterior and a slate roof topped with a timber and lead cupola at the centre of the ridge. The building has a U-shaped courtyard plan and stands two storeys high. The projecting central bay includes a four-centered arch with a clock and a battlemented parapet above. All windows are casements. The projecting wings on the right and left have battlemented and pinnacled gable ends, with quatrefoils in the tympana.
