Description

The Townsend Tomb, located 1 metre northwest of the Rawlinson Tomb, is a Grade II listed structure from the 18th century. This stone table tomb features a rectangular plan with a flat top supported by a fluted frieze and elongated fluted consoles that rise from a moulded plinth. The side panels of the tomb are inscribed with the names of John Townsend, who died in 1790, and William Townsend, a citizen and wine merchant of London, who died in 1797.
