GV II

Former stable. Late C18, altered. Red brick in irregular bond; plain tile roof. One storey with loft; 5 bays. Central doorway bricked up to its right, cross-boarded door with segmental brick arch, and C19 small-pane 2-tight window in formerly larger opening. Ends of tie rods. Stepped dentilled eaves. Hipped roof. Rear: blocked central window; smaller windows to right. Left return: mostly of header-bond brickwork blocked occulus in gable. Right return: rebuilt in Flemish-bond brickwork with glazed headers. Interiors: right bays have cobbled floor and stalls with manger with 5 tethering rings. Large-scantling tie-beams support curved, cruck-like braces up to collar and principal rafters, with base ties to wall plate; two tiers of enched purlins; replacement rafters and plank ridge-piece. Included for group value.
