Description

Spring Cottage is a cottage dating back to the 17th century, with an 18th-century extension and a later re-fronting. The exterior is largely brick, with some late timber framing visible on the right side. The rear timber frame is rendered over a flint and brick base, and the roof is thatched, with a hipped section to the right. A brick chimney, dated 1667 on the first floor, is located one bay from the left. The thatch has been dressed around the upper floor windows. The cottage is continuous with Highbury. It is approximately one and a half storeys high. The ground floor features C19 and modern casement windows, with those to the left having cambered heads, and there is a modern porch. Three irregular casements are on the upper floor. Inside, the cottage retains timber framing with a Queen Post roof in the second and third bays from the left. The left-hand bay appears to be a later extension.
