Description
The property comprises numbers 30 to 32 Carlton Crescent, dating to around 1830. It presents as a symmetrical group of buildings, with numbers 30 and 32 projecting forward and connected by rusticated arcading in front of number 31. The building is four storeys high with a basement, constructed with stuccoed walls and a rusticated ground floor. Pilasters support the cornice between the second and third floors. The arcading features arches with radiating voussoirs. Each house has three windows, with the central window on the first floor accentuated by cornice moulding supported by consoles. Number 31 incorporates a balcony with cast iron railings, which forms the roof of the arcading. Ground floor windows are arched and recessed, featuring radiating glazing bars. The doors to numbers 30 and 32 are positioned on the outside of the group, with number 31’s door located centrally. The doorcases to numbers 31 and 32 have fanlights of contemporary design. Number 30 features a mid-19th century Doric porch. The entire group is set back from the road and retains much of its original ironwork, contributing to its group value.
