Description
The National Westminster Bank, formerly known as the National Provincial Bank, is a corner building dating from around 1830. It has three storeys and is finished in stucco, with a rusticated ground floor on the elevation facing Carlton Crescent. The building features pilasters at the corners and between the windows, along with a cornice and blocking course. On the Carlton Crescent side, there are three sash windows with round-headed openings on the ground floor. To the left, there is a splayed lower height two-storey wing that matches the style of the main building. The London Road elevation includes a three-window segmental bow on the first floor, with a central entrance door flanked by three arcaded plate glass windows on each side. This building serves as an important lead-in to Carlton Crescent.
