Description
New Bradwell War Memorial is situated within New Bradwell Cemetery and is made of Portland stone. The memorial features a sculpture of a Private from the Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry, depicted standing to attention with a rifle at his side. He is positioned on three steps that rise from a square plinth, which has an entablature adorned with carved decorative details. This plinth is set on a three-stepped base.
The inscriptions are crafted in lead lettering. The main dedication states, "TO THE GLORY OF GOD/ AND IN MEMORY OF THE BRAVE MEN/ OF THE PARISH OF BRADWELL/ WHO FELL IN THE GREAT WAR 1914 – 1918/ (NAMES)." The rear of the memorial lists the names of those who fell in the Second World War, preceded by "1939 – 1945." One side of the plinth is inscribed with "OUR GLORIOUS DEAD," while another face reads "FOR COUNTRY." The first step of the base includes a note regarding the memorial's erection: "TO FULFIL THE PROMISE OF PRIVATE/ ROBERT KYLIE JP. CA./ THIS MONUMENT WAS ERECTED BY HIS FAMILY."
