Description
The School House and attached Village Hall, formerly the schoolrooms, is a building from the 18th century that was originally used as the schoolmaster's house, with a late 19th-century school added at the rear, now serving as the village hall. The house is two stories high and has three bays, constructed of coursed rubblestone with an old tile roof. It features a six-panel central door and three-light leaded casement windows, while the upper floor has two-light leaded casements. All openings are topped with oak lintels. There is a 19th-century alteration at the south end and end stacks. The Village Hall, built in the late 19th century, is also made of coursed rubblestone with old tile roofs and is designed in Jacobean style, featuring three-light mullioned and transomed windows. It has a south gabled porch with a four-centred arched door, coped gables with kneelers, and a bellcote at the end, linked to the house by a tiled connection. The north range has coped gables and kneelers, along with another porch, and the school building is arranged in a letter-L plan.
