Description
Number 42 and Ivy Cottage are two cottages, one positioned at right angles to the other, dating from the 18th and 19th centuries, with the east bays rebuilt around 1970. They are constructed of coursed rubblestone, with Ivy Cottage featuring a part timber-framed and part brick rear wing. The cottages have thatch roofs. Number 42 has a street front of three bays and two storeys. The two left-hand bays, built in a cottage style around 1970, have two-light casement windows, with the upper ones being eaves-breaking dormers. The right-hand bay features a six-panel door and a slate-roofed canted bay window, with a two-light casement above. The upper walling has been repaired with brick. The rear range, Ivy Cottage, consists of three bays and two storeys. The northern bay is part timber-framed with colourwashed brick and stud infill, topped with a thatch roof. The two southern bays are made of colourwashed brick with a slate roof. The rear or west wall is made of stone, and the cottage includes casements, a door, and garage doors on the left.
