Description
Home Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the early 17th century. It is constructed of coursed rubblestone with a plain tile roof, and features a northeast range from the 18th century that is thatched. The building has two storeys and an attic, consisting of three bays, with the northeast range being 1½ storeys. The entrance is located between the left-hand bay and the front stack, following a 'lobby-entry' plan. It has a six-panel door set in a heavy frame with moulded architraves, topped by a flat hood with a panelled soffit supported by long cut scroll brackets. The windows include triple-headed casements, with the left-hand first-floor window and two other three-light stone mullioned windows from the 17th century, which are also leaded. There is evidence of mullions and stone frames on other windows. The gable ends are stone coped on kneelers, and there are brick stacks at the gables and between the left-hand bays. The thatched range, which was formerly a stable and hayloft, has a blocked opening on the street front, two small ground floor windows, a gable casement, and a triangular vent in the apex. A gabled dormer window is located at the rear of the house. Inside, there is some 18th-century oak panelling and an early 19th-century staircase.
