Description
The Milton Keynes Village War Memorial is a Grade II-listed structure made of Portland stone, located about 25 meters south of the Church of All Saints, which is also Grade I-listed. It is positioned directly in line with the churchyard gate and the path from Willen Road. The memorial stands approximately 3 meters tall and features a large panel with a curved top that is raised on a rectangular plinth.
On the front face of the panel, a Latin cross with a decorative border is carved in relief, creating recessed quadrants that contain inscriptions. The upper left quadrant reads "1914," and the upper right quadrant reads "1918." The lower left quadrant has the inscription "REMEMBER/ THE MEN/ OF/ MILTON=/ =KEYNES/ WHO, FOR/ THEIR," while the lower right quadrant states "COUNTRY/ AND FOR/ US, LAID/ DOWN/ THEIR/ LIVES IN/ THE WAR."
The names of nine individuals are recorded on the front face of the base. On the rear of the panel, the dedication reads "GREATER LOVE HATH NO/ MAN THAN THIS THAT/ A MAN LAY DOWN HIS/ LIFE FOR HIS FRIENDS."
