Description
Pembroke House, formerly known as the Boot Inn, is a building from the early 17th century and later. It features a stone front elevation that has been rendered and colorwashed. The northern end has an old tile roof with a hipped corner, while the southern part is covered with slates. There is a large rubble stone chimney stack at the north end with diagonal shafts. The building is two storeys high with an attic, and the ground floor projects at the north end, featuring a tiled roof, a door, and sash windows at the south corner. On the right side, there is a 4-light casement window and two more on the first floor.
The southern section has one sash window on the ground floor and two canted oriel windows on the first floor, both with sash windows. These windows illuminate a long gallery that has a shallow vaulted plaster ceiling, which once extended into Stone House (No 5 Bridge Street). At the rear, there is a full-height gabled projection that contains a 17th-century oak newel staircase.
