Description
Courtney House is a late 18th-century rebuilding of an earlier house located on Olney Bridge Street. The building is constructed of ashlar stone and features a floorband, a steeply pitched slate roof, and stone-coped gables. There is a brick stack at the north end and three flat-topped dormers. The eaves are dentilled.
The house is two storeys high and has a six-panel door positioned to the left of centre, which is complemented by a rectangular fanlight with margin glazing, panelled reveals, and a soffit. The wooden doorcase includes reeded pilasters that are panelled above the capitals and has a simple cornice. To the right of the door is a sash window, with tripartite sash windows on each side and similar windows above, along with a blank recess above the door. All windows are adorned with plain stone architraves and keystones.
Inside, the house features an early 19th-century staircase, panelled doors, arches in the entrance hall, chimney pieces, and moulded plaster cornices.
