Description
Nos 24 and 25 in Olney Market Place are buildings dating from the 16th and 17th centuries, with a datestone on No 24 indicating the year 1654. They are constructed of stone and feature a modern tiled roof, brick stacks, flat-topped dormers on the left, and hipped dormers on the right. The buildings are two storeys high with an attic. The central section has a shop window and door, with a low inserted sash window on the left and a larger sash window on the far left. There is a matching sash window on the first floor that breaks the eaves, and a similar window on the right above the shop front. The eaves on the right side are slightly lower, with one tripartite sash window on each floor. A semi-circular arched passage entrance is located on the right. Inside, the attic of No 25 features a hollow chamfered arch braced truss and timbers for the two end trusses, which may belong to an open-roofed upper room from the late medieval period.
