Description
The remains of a chapel located in the northeast corner of the garden at Grench Manor date back to 1378 and were built by Sir John Philpott, who was the Lord Mayor of London. The structure is now in ruins and constructed from limestone rubble and flint, featuring limestone dressings. It is a single-storey building with a three-bay range, but it is roofless and lacks an eastern end. The north wall is windowless, while the west gable includes a pointed two-light Decorated window with a quatrefoil and a simple internal triangular arch made of two leaning lintels. On the south side, there is a central doorway with a four-centre arch set in a chamfered lintel, flanked by small altered windows on either side.
