Description

This barn, located approximately 20 metres northeast of the farmhouse at Great Appleford, dates to the 17th century with extensions from the 18th century. It is constructed of Isle of Wight stone rubble, with a later corrugated iron roof. The original, older section of the barn has two tiers of triangular ventilation slits and double cart doors on the right side. This older section comprises three bays, with a two-bay extension. The roof is of queen post type, featuring collar beams, diagonal braces, and clasped purlins.
