Description

This is an early 19th century, two-storey house located on St John's Road. The exterior is characterized by chequered brickwork with rusticated red brick quoins and a decorative band between the floors and a relief frieze. The house has a gable-ended slate roof. It features three windows on the first floor; the outer windows are rectangular bay windows with a single sash window to the front and fixed side lights, incorporating glazing bars and plain wood frames, topped with a cornice and plain aprons. The first floor centre window and the two ground floor windows are recessed and contain sash windows with glazing bars, block sills, and flat brick arches. The central entrance consists of a recessed door with three fielded panels, two of which are glazed, set within panelled reveals and a soffit, and framed by a simple wood architrave. A wooden trellis gabled porch with a finial protects the entrance. The building is part of a group that includes numbers 57 to 83 (odd) on St John's Road.
