Description
The building is a barn and stabling located to the southwest of the Mill House, dated 1706 as indicated by the lintel above the cart entrance, with the stabling added in the later 18th century. The barn is constructed from Isle of Wight stone and has a roof currently covered in corrugated iron. On the left side, there is stabling for one horse, featuring a wooden mullioned window on the ground floor and another window above, which has a wooden pegged architrave and a sliding shutter with iron cames and old glass, likely used for the stable boy's accommodation. The barn includes a central cart entrance and two tiers of triangular ventilation slits, with a later roof supported by scientific kingpost trusses. The stabling on the left is also made of Isle of Wight stone but is of a lower elevation and has an old pegtiled roof. The gable end features brick kneelers, and the stable door has a pegged architrave with brick dressings. The brick gable end includes an attic hay loft loading door with a four-plank door. Inside, there is a chamfered spine beam that may have been reused from a domestic building.
