Description
The building is a Post Office located on the north side of High Street, dating from the 18th to 19th century. It is three storeys high, constructed with purple grey headers and red brick dressings. The gable end features a slate roof with stepped eaves cornice made of red headers and a string course of inlaid red stretchers. There are five windows, with the outer ones set closer together, all recessed and featuring sash frames with later glazing bars and block sills on the second floor, topped by flat brick arches. The early 20th-century Post Office front is made of red brick with a stone plinth, adorned with Doric pilasters, a frieze, a cornice, and a pediment above the door.
