Description
14 St Thomas's Square is a large, deep red brick Victorian warehouse built in the 19th century, featuring a pedimented end to the west and three storeys. Adjoining it to the east is a house that is contemporary with God's Providence and No 13, sharing an old tiled roof. The front of the building has been refaced in the early 19th century with purple grey headers and red brick dressings. It has a slightly heavier wood eaves cornice that is contemporary with Nos 12 and 13, which have a thin block cornice added below at the time of refacing, along with a band between the storeys.
The building has two sash windows with glazing bars, moulded flush wood frames, thin wood block sills, and flat red brick arches. The ground floor features a mid-19th century shop front with a window of five lights, partly boarded up, and thin colonettes with curved corners at the heads of the panes. There are Doric pilasters, a frieze, and a shallow projecting cornice. A recessed plain wood door to the west has lost its doorcase and is topped by a segmental grey header arch. Nos 12 to 14 form a group.
