Description
Moorhills is a house that dates from the late 16th century or early 17th century and was extensively altered in the 19th century after a fire. It is constructed from coursed stone rubble from the Isle of Wight and features a slate roof with 19th-century brick chimneystacks. The building has two storeys and four windows. There is a stone two-light mullioned window, with some windows having been extended in the 19th century. The ground floor includes two buttresses and an obtusely pointed doorcase. The gable end displays kneelers and mullioned windows, and there is a deep plinth. The name "Moorhills" comes from the De Morvilles, who were the owners before the Worsleys of Appuldurcombe.
